Job Description

The Creative Audio Organization is a centralized team at Meta that collaborates with product and design teams to drive sonic innovation. The Creative Audio AI Team is pioneering technologies aimed at enhancing human connections through audio. The Creative Audio is seeking a Lead to head the AI Audio and Voice Team, collaborating on strategies and execution, and ensuring alignment with Meta’s AI initiatives.

In this role, you will be responsible for leading the development of Creative Audio AI strategies and experiences across Meta. You will work closely with product management, design, engineering, and research teams to integrate audio into the product development process from the outset.

Responsibilities

• Lead a small team of AI Leads on Voice and Audio, promoting career growth and collaboration.
• Influence the strategy and roadmap for Creative Audio AI, setting direction and goals for the team.
• Apply knowledge of domain and industry to advance team goals.
• Set clear expectations and create a supportive work environment.
• Contribute to resource strategy for a diverse range of projects.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate audio into product development.
• Work with technical sound designers, engineers, and researchers to create unique AI audio experiences.
• Provide direction and guidance to AI leads and creative coders.
• Stay updated on AI industry trends and emerging technologies.
• Represent the AI Audio Team in meetings and presentations.
• Ensure effective partnerships with Engineering, Design, and Product Management teams.
• Advocate for the role of audio across Meta and the creative community.
• Assess team strengths and opportunities, participate in hiring processes.
• Foster a collaborative design practice.

Minimum Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional sound design, including text-to-speech voice development and technical sound design.
• Implementation experience focused on high-quality sonic experiences.
• 7+ years of experience leading teams with specialized expertise.
• Experience with AI systems and text-to-speech model training.
• Experience tuning audio hardware using sound tools and DSP.
• Proven ability to manage multiple partnerships and projects.
• Critical listening skills with a proven ear for audio quality.
• Experience in voice production, casting, and editing.
• Proficiency in digital audio software (Pro Tools, Izotope RX).
• Understanding of DSP, audio synthesis, and digital audio concepts.
• Scripting or programming experience in relevant languages (Python, C++, JavaScript).
• Familiarity with QA processes and bug tracking.
• Demonstrated communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with coding or advanced scripting for sound implementation.
• Familiarity with studio recording, editing, and mastering.
• Experience working with distributed teams.
• Advancing AI techniques and contributions to open source libraries.
• Experience establishing an Audio team in an organization.
• Experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, and RAG methodologies.
• Knowledge in generative sound, speech synthesis, or digital signal processing.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $163,000/year to $224,000/year, plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Individual compensation varies based on skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Meta offers additional benefits as well.
