Job Description

Halogen Engineering Group is looking for a Software Engineer who shall be responsible for the design, development, test, and sustainment of an end-to-end Big Data processing platform. This platform provides downstream systems with aggregated analytic results and allows end-users to query, visualize, and analyze event data from multiple data sources. The candidate will design, develop, test, deploy, document, maintain, and enhance complex and diverse software systems based upon documented requirements. Responsibilities include working on processing intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of large data sets, real-time systems, business management information systems, and system development and monitoring. The position involves reviewing and testing software components, resolving software problem reports, utilizing appropriate software development methodologies, and providing input to system design.

Requirements

• Experience using the Linux CLI
• Experience with Bash/Python scripting
• Experience developing Java applications in a Linux environment
• Experience developing with the Spring framework including Spring Boot
• Experience with processing Big Data
• Demonstrated experience with system design and architecture
• Experience with Web development, HTTP, and REST services
• Experience with NoSQL technologies such as Elasticsearch and Accumulo
• Experience with CI/CD principles, concepts, best practices, and tools such as Jenkins and GitLab CI

Desired Skills

• Experience with the Atlassian Tool suite (Jira, Confluence)
• Experience with Git Version Control System
• Experience with Test-driven development
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in computer science or related discipline from an accredited college or university, plus five (5) years of experience as a Software Engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• OR Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline, plus seven (7) years of experience as a Software Engineer in similar programs and contracts.
• OR Nine (9) years of experience as a Software Engineer in similar programs and contracts.

Salary Range

The projected compensation range for this position is $172K to $206K (annualized USD). Factors influencing salary include location, the individual’s combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements.
