Job Description
WBUR is seeking a versatile Associate Producer to join our CitySpace Productions team. The ideal candidate will have strong skills in both audio and video production, be equally adept at shaping shows from conception to release - whether mixing crisp, immersive audio or producing dynamic video episodes and clips for social and streaming platforms. This role blends creative storytelling with technical execution and requires strong organizational skills, editorial judgment, and a collaborative spirit.
Responsibilities
- Content Development & PlanningCollaborate with hosts, clients, and other producers to develop show ideas, scripts, and story outlines.
- Conduct research, book guests, and prepare pre-interview briefs.
- Audio ProductionRecord interviews and live segments, both in-studio and remotely.
- Edit, mix, and master podcast episodes using professional audio software.
- Maintain high production standards for clarity, pacing, and sound design.
- Video ProductionCapture video content for in-studio recordings, field interviews, and promotional material.
- Edit video episodes and promotional clips.
- Incorporate graphics, captions, and brand elements into final video deliverables.
- Publishing & DistributionPrepare and upload episodes to podcast platforms and video channels.
- Write engaging episode descriptions, titles, and promotional copy.
- Collaborate with the Marketing team to optimize reach and audience engagement.
- Project ManagementManage production timelines and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure all content meets brand and legal guidelines.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience producing audio and video content, preferably in a podcast or broadcast environment.
- Proficiency in audio editing and mixing software (Pro Tools, Adobe Audition, Descript, or similar).
- Proficiency in video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve).
- Strong narrative storytelling skills.
- Experience with multi-camera setups, lighting, and live streaming is a plus.
- Knowledge of podcast hosting platforms, YouTube optimization, and social media content strategies.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Additional Skills
- Motion graphics/animation experience.
- Experience in live event production or streaming.
- Familiarity with SEO and audience analytics tools.
- Knowledge of audience development tools.
Additional Information
This position is covered under our collective bargaining agreement with the SAG-AFTRA union and the minimum salary for this position is $67,958. Additionally, when compensation is being evaluated for a candidate finalist, that amount can increase as experience and internal equity are factored into the offer amount.
