Job Description

Creative Audio is a centralized team at Meta that is crucial to the company’s product offerings. The team collaborates with product and creative teams to design audio for a wide range of platforms, including mobile, VR headsets, and AR/MR devices. Creative Audio seeks an experienced Sound Designer to work on Metaverse projects, focusing on sound design for interactive and immersive experiences. The Sound Designer will play a vital role in daily sound design tasks and will work closely with other team members and cross-functional product teams to enhance audio experiences.

Responsibilities

• Create world-class sound design for immersive experiences
• Collaborate closely with partners to determine scope of work, planning, and execution of sound design and implementation
• Understand product voice for maintaining quality and efficiency
• Contribute to development of sound design systems, establishing audio design standards and best practices
• Prepare and test for implementation accuracy, addressing bugs and optimizing sounds
• Execute tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Ensure systems alignment across products with other sound designers
• Influence key business decisions with data-driven insights
• Create unique sonic experiences to enhance product consistency
• Communicate effectively with technical teams for seamless sound implementation

Minimum Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in sound design for mobile, hardware, and immersive environments
• Experience with audio middleware (Wwise, FMOD)
• Experience creating original sound design for high-profile products
• Experience with sound design synthesis and plugins
• Proven communication and collaboration skills
• Music production experience
• Proficiency in Pro Tools and/or other DAWs
• Understanding of human-centered design
• Project management skills in scoping and communication
• Experience testing sound implementations
• Troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
• Strong time management and organizational skills
• Understanding of Design Systems and systems thinking
• Awareness of accessibility requirements

Preferred Qualifications

• Understanding of programming and technical sound paradigms in VR, AR, or immersive mediums
• Experience mixing in various formats, including spatial audio
• Experience with studio and location recording
• Post-production skills, including editing and mastering
• Knowledge of acoustics and equipment setup
• Experience with game engines (Unity, Unreal)
• Experience designing audio for AR and VR experiences

Compensation

The position offers a salary range of $137,000/year to $191,000/year, plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Individual compensation varies based on skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Details in this posting reflect the base salary only and do not include additional compensation elements.
