Job Description

As a Freelance Local Producer at Sofar Sounds, you will curate, produce, and promote concerts and other live events to foster a strong and vibrant Sofar community in Minneapolis. Your role will involve mapping out the city’s strategy, producing exceptional events, executing local marketing initiatives, selling local sponsorships, and expanding Sofar’s footprint. You will be an ambassador for Sofar, leveraging your entrepreneurial spirit and cultural awareness to create memorable live experiences.

Please note that this role is hybrid, and candidates must be based in Minneapolis. Producers are freelancers and earn commission-based pay, allowing for flexible schedules, primarily during weekends and evenings.

Requirements

• You have deep connections to your local scene and actively build community around it.
• You possess 3-5 years of experience in live event curation, production, and promotions.
• You have experience in selling event sponsorships or marketing activations, preferably in the live events or experiential marketing space.
• You’re confident in pitching ideas and event concepts to sponsors and have a track record of closing partnership deals.
• You have a strong understanding of your city’s neighborhoods and where people like to spend their time.
• You excel at building relationships with community-driven organizations, media partners, or local businesses.
• You understand how to promote and build alliances that drive ticket sales to shows.
• You take pride in your work and approach opportunities with professionalism and ownership for the best experience for all parties involved.
• You possess exceptional time management skills and are a clear communicator.
• You can work autonomously while remaining connected to the broader organization.

Compensation

Producers earn commission-based pay on a per-show basis, with compensation varying based on ticket prices, show volume, and event performance, typically ranging from $100-$500+ per event.
