Java Backend Developer

Back-End Developer is needed in Limerick, Ireland.

We are seeking a Java Backend Developer (m/f/d) to join our team in Limerick (Nenagh), Ireland for a full-time contract position with Westhouse Consulting. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in backend development using Java technologies such as Spring and Hibernate, especially within high-transaction, enterprise-scale environments. You should understand non-functional requirements like scalability and performance, and be comfortable working with payment gateway systems, APIs, and protocols. Experience with microservices architecture, troubleshooting complex backend systems, and an interest in payment standards like Nexo are all highly valued. Your primary responsibilities will include developing and maintaining secure, high-volume backend systems for payment processing, ensuring system resilience, integrating APIs, and contributing to platform improvements, all while collaborating in a team-oriented, agile environment. Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving are important for this role. The assignment is on-site in Limerick/Nenagh and will run from November 2025 to June 2026, with a possible extension.
