Job Description

The successful candidate for this position will be a 1099 contractor with Music Ministry International and be responsible for serving as the Music Director and Musician for Beale AFB Catholic Service programs. Responsibilities include weekly Mass, weekly choir rehearsal, and special events starting on 25 Sep 2025 with a base commitment for 4 additional years. The schedule includes one weekly worship (52 units), one monthly rehearsal (12 units), and occasional special events (9 units).

Requirements

• **Education, Experience, and Personal Requirements:**Should have a Bachelor’s Degree.
• A minimum of two years’ experience in cantering, directing choirs, and leading congregations in the Catholic Church.
• Musical/vocal ability through formal classes; must be able to sight-read music and direct others in singing from the Oregon Catholic Press (OCP) series, GIA/Gather, and other specified music.
• Familiarity with and ability to blend various musical instruments in the worship service.
• Ability to organize, teach, and manage volunteers in a flexible, changing environment.
• Must dress conservatively in accordance with the expectations at worship services.
• Undergo successful background criminal history check at local, state, and national levels.
• Working knowledge of audio-visual equipment such as sound systems and projectors.
• Provide one clergy reference and a reference from the supervisor of the last position, along with a resume.
• Be interviewed and auditioned before a recommended panel organized by the senior-ranking chaplain in charge of service.

Specific Responsibilities

• Direct Catholic Choir at scheduled rehearsals, Mass, and special events. Prepare and conduct regular monthly rehearsals for the Catholic Choir.
• Assist the chaplain in planning Mass, music selection, sound/audio-visual programming, and PowerPoint.
• Design and implement a worship campaign in coordination with the chaplain.
• Maintain records and statistical information of volunteers and report as required by applicable policies.
• Attend weekly meetings with the chaplain and financial working groups as requested.
• Adhere to music and copyright laws.
• Care for chapel music equipment and submit requests for equipment, replacements, and repairs.
• Plan all music selections monthly in coordination with the Catholic Chaplain or designate.
• Submit completed units authorized for payment each month to the Chaplain Advisor and certify payments.
• Notify the Catholic Chaplain of any necessary substitutions for the Music Director with at least 7 days’ notice.
