Job Description

JoJo Wong Design & Construction Studio is a dynamic and innovative design-build firm located in Houston and Southern California. We are dedicated to creating exceptional spaces by blending history with modern elements and thoughtful design. We are seeking experienced and passionate young interior designers to join our collaborative team and help shape the future of our projects.

As an interior designer, you will lead the interior design approach of projects through all phases, communicate client needs, coordinate design work, collaborate with other disciplines, oversee design visualization, develop furniture and fixture plans, and work closely with construction teams. You will maintain project budgets and timelines, stay updated on industry trends, create client presentations, and produce detailed design documentation.

Requirements

  • Creative & Collaborative: Ability to effectively communicate artistic vision and thrive in a team environment.
  • Experienced: Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in interior design, ideally with residential, co-living space, apartments or retail shop projects.
  • Technically Skilled: Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite; experience with Revit is a plus.
  • Detail-Oriented: Exceptional attention to detail with accurate design documentation production.
  • Proactive & Flexible: Self-starter capable of managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, willing to travel between Houston and SoCal, and eager to grow with the firm.
  • Educated: Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or a related field.

  • Portfolio Requirements: Candidates must submit a portfolio showcasing their design work and experience.
  • Project-Based Nature: This is a freelance and project-based role, offering flexibility for the designer.
  • Experience & Skills: Strong understanding of materials, space planning, and design systems with a keen eye for detail is required.
  • Software Proficiency: Required proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Collaboration: Emphasis on the importance of a collaborative spirit, working alongside builders and other designers.
  • Growth Potential: Opportunities for hands-on experience with creative, high-end projects and potential to manage the Houston market.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
