Job Description

Piper Companies is seeking a SQL Developer to join a leading non-asset-based third-party logistics (3PL) provider located in Hickory, NC through 100% permanent remote work. The SQL Developer will support the parcel rating systems by configuring data, monitoring performance, deploying updates, and analyzing rating-related data in collaboration with DevOps and operations teams.

Responsibilities

• Interpret carrier rating data and internal systems; perform custom queries for data exports, analysis, and QA scenarios.
• Enhance and streamline system processes using technical tools like stored procedures, scripts, and data flow pipelines.
• Set up technical components and systems for new client implementations.
• Oversee system health, audit outcomes, and data flow; identify and resolve defects or escalate as needed.
• Serve as a go-to expert in your domain and drive innovation within your area of responsibility.
• Respond promptly to internal support requests and work closely with team members to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently.
• Handle office supply inventory, vendor relationships, and facility management needs.
• Provide backup support to colleagues and contribute to team success.
• Be on-call for emergency situations and off-peak production tasks.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in a technical role.
• Strong proficiency in SQL, SSMS, Microsoft SQL Server, ETL processes, data import/export, query development, data analysis and QA, as well as experience with Azure DevOps and APM tools.
• Preferred experience includes business intelligence and analytics tools, database and data warehouse design, handling large datasets, scripting, Git-based source control, process automation, Jira, and Agile development methodologies.
• Quickly adapt to and learn new technologies independently.
• Demonstrate excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, along with strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-driven and capable of working effectively both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical or related field is preferred.

Compensation

• Salary Range: $75,000 - $95,000
• Comprehensive Benefits: Cigna Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, PTO, Sick Leave if required by law, and Holidays
