Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Designer to utilize SolidWorks and AutoCAD to create 3D models, assembly drawings, and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs). The ideal candidate will apply proper drafting standards and practices, follow IMS procedures related to drafting, and participate in design reviews with engineers, customers, and sales staff.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain 3D models and assembly drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Ensure drafting standards and practices are applied correctly.
• Follow IMS procedures related to drafting.
• Participate in design reviews with engineers, customers, and sales staff.
• Assist engineers with drawings and documentation for quotations and proposals.
• Identify and report any conflicts or discrepancies in specifications.
• Verify that drawings comply with standards and drafting practices.
• Support manufacturing by reviewing drawings and BOMs before the build process.
• Update drawings and documentation to reflect any changes.

Requirements

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• 2+ years of drafting or designing experience.
• Familiarity with SolidWorks or AutoDesk Inventor.
• Strong knowledge of drafting principles, geometric tolerances, and dimensioning standards.
• Ability to follow instructions and support engineers and manufacturing teams.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Familiarity with machining and fabrication methods.
• Basic understanding of mechanical components such as bearings, bushings, fasteners, belts, and gearboxes.
• Ability to interpret and apply industry and ANSI standards.
• An associate’s degree is a significant advantage.
• Consideration for entry-level candidates with an associate’s degree and experience in a manufacturing machine build company.

Work Environment

The work environment involves collaboration with engineers and sales staff to ensure the quality and accuracy of designs. The role requires adherence to drafting standards and practices, utilizing technologies such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD. The position supports manufacturing processes and involves updating documentation to reflect any changes in designs.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Loves Park, Illinois.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr.
