Job Description

At Wizards of the Coast, we connect people around the world through play and imagination. We are looking for a Lead Visual Designer to develop Play Tools that power D&D Beyond, the premier digital companion for Dungeons & Dragons. This role offers a unique opportunity to build innovative, intuitive tools that enhance the experience of millions of players and Dungeon Masters globally.

Responsibilities

  • Develop UX solutions for D&D Beyond, emphasizing product design, systems design, UI style, layout, typography, color, usability, and interaction design.
  • Scope, plan, and deliver design projects independently while proactively identifying, communicating, and solving issues that affect work quality.
  • Deliver a variety of design artifacts for the team including strategy frameworks, research results, journey maps, flows, wireframes, high fidelity comps, and style guides.
  • Break down experiences thoughtfully to enable teams to ship value incrementally, making intentional trade-offs that focus on optimal player impact.

Qualifications

  • A degree in UX Design, Art, Information Architecture, or a related design field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Portfolio and/or case study showcasing interactive design work and excellent design sensibilities.
  • Strong art direction background, with experience in evolving style guides and design systems in Figma or similar tools.
  • Hands-on expertise in responsive web design and familiarity with mobile app patterns.
  • The ability to think conceptually in visual and interface design while offering a unique perspective on design.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration skills working with cross-functional teams including product management and engineering.
  • Comfortable leveraging data to guide design decisions, even with incomplete data.
  • A growth mindset to push for continuous improvement in yourself, the team, and the product.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with design systems for multichannel products and multi-brand architecture.
  • A genuine love and passion for D&D and tabletop RPGs.
  • Experience designing in both product and marketing contexts.
  • A background in designing and shipping projects within the games industry.

Additional Details

  • Employment Type: Temporary
  • Location: Fully Remote
  • Duration: 6 months with the possibility to extend to 12 months

Hourly pay range for this role is $90.00 to $125.00, varying based on experience, skills, and market conditions.
