Job Description

Zack D. Films is hiring a versatile and creative Music Composer to create original music tracks for our short-form animated videos. This role is key to expanding our owned content library and enhancing storytelling impact. As our composer, you’ll work closely with our content team to craft original music across multiple moods and genres, serving as background music for 30-90 second animated videos published across platforms like YouTube Shorts, TikTok, and Instagram. You will help shape the emotional tone of our videos while ensuring full ownership and licensing rights of all created music.

Requirements

1. Proven experience composing original music across various moods and genres.

2. Proficiency with DAWs and virtual instruments.

3. Strong sense of narrative storytelling and how music supports emotional shifts.

4. Ability to work independently and deliver consistent quality within deadlines.

5. Willingness to transfer full licensing rights to Zack D. Films for commercial use and monetization.

6. Bonus Skills:

• Experience composing for animation or short-form content.
• Familiarity with YouTube’s Content ID system or royalty-free licensing.
• Ability to create loops, stingers, or multiple versions of the same track for pacing flexibility.

Deliverables

1. Full-length mastered .wav and .mp3 versions of each track.

2. Individual instrument stems.

3. Short loopable or alternate versions (15-30 sec) where relevant.

4. Metadata and cue sheets for rights management.

Compensation

This is a freelance position, paid per track, with rates negotiable based on experience and scope. Long-term collaboration opportunities are available for the right fit.

Application Process

To apply, please submit a test project: Create a background track for a 16 second video. The music should be fun, light, and rhythmically structured to support visuals and voiceover without becoming the center of attention. Submit your test as a Google Drive link overlaying the video via the application link. Note that this test is unpaid, but if approved, we’ll begin working with you on paid projects. There is no strict deadline, but the sooner, the better!

What We Don’t Want

1. AI-generated music; we seek human composers only.

2. Off-brand experimentation; maintain the emotional tone and structure of our existing categories.

3. Foreground music; tracks should be supportive and background-oriented, not overpowering the voiceover or visuals.
