Job Description

Freelance Food Videographer needed for a modern Japanese dining destination in Alexandria, VA. The role involves capturing the energy of the dining room and the artistry of sushi craftsmanship with cinematic precision. The assignment is a detail shoot lasting approximately 4-5 hours, scheduled around October 20th, focusing on delivering high-quality video content that showcases the dining experience.

Requirements

• Must have 2+ years of experience in food/hospitality videography.
• Strong skills in handheld and gimbal composition; macro detail shots are essential.
• Ability to efficiently direct small micro-scenes.
• A portfolio that demonstrates texture, motion, and storytelling in food content.
• Must supply a gear list and provide 2-3 portfolio/reel links.
• Provision of a creative idea pitch related to the brief is required (3-4 lines).
• Availability around the shoot date, October 20th.

Deliverables

• 150-200 vertical RAW clips (10-15 seconds each).
• Original LUT only (no color grading).
• 4K capture at 60-120 fps.
• All shots as per the creative brief and shot list including nighttime drone shots of exterior ambience.

Compensation & Perks

• Flat rate of $800 for the project.
• Local candidates preferred (travel stipend negotiable if nearby).
• One meal comp provided.
• Payment made in full within 24 hours of file delivery.
• Rights for perpetual, exclusive, social-media-only usage of deliverables.

Must-Have Gear

No phone footage allowed. Preferred gear setups include:

• Cameras: Sony A7S III / FX3 / FX30 / Canon R5 C / Panasonic S5 IIX or equivalent that can shoot 4K 60p minimum.
• Lenses: 24-70mm f/2.8 GM, 50mm f/1.4, 90mm macro, 35mm f/1.4 GM acceptable with a wider lens.
• Stabilization: DJI RS2 / RS3 / RS3 Mini gimbal mandatory; tripod or monopod optional.
• Lighting: Aputure 120d/300x-class LED or similar for controlled scenes; prioritize natural light.
• Audio: On-camera or shotgun mic preferred for ambient sound (optional but preferred).
• Drone: Licensed operator with a 4K-capable drone required for nighttime exterior shots.
• File Format: 4K LOG, ProRes 422 or H.264 ≥150 Mb/s, Original LUT only.
