Job Description
We are seeking a talented designer/engineer to join our team. This role involves modeling parts and pieces needed for systems and creating fabrication drawings. Initially, work will be delegated by a lead or project engineer, progressing to full product design as company and product knowledge is gained. The position eventually includes fieldwork, participating in kickoffs, planning, and customer sign-offs through design and installation of equipment. The ideal candidate should be comfortable in a fabrication environment and capable of supporting the shop floor, working with fabricators and welders to ensure the final product meets requirements.
Responsibilities
- Create simple models of parts and pieces needed for systems.
- Develop fabrication drawings based on delegated work.
- Update models and parts by pulling information and drawings from the Vault.
- Grow into full product design with gained company and product knowledge.
- Conduct fieldwork, including measurements and system evaluations.
- Participate in project kickoffs, planning, and customer sign-offs.
- Support the shop floor, ensuring final product meets requirements.
- Collaborate with fabricators and welders to ensure drawings reflect correct information.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
- Experience in creating part, assembly, and fabrication drawings.
- Ability to model with experience in BOMs, weld symbols, notes, and blocks.
- Familiarity with steel fabrication drawings (1/4 inch or more).
- Skill in using a tape measure accurately.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience with Inventor.
- Associate’s degree in drafting or equivalent.
- Experience working in a fabrication environment.
Work Environment
This position involves working primarily at a desk in your own corner. Ideal candidates can focus on tasks independently while executing directions efficiently. Expect extra hours from October to March during the busy season, with 25% travel for customer site measurements. The work environment is relaxed and supportive, offering six paid holidays, one week of PTO, and a good health benefits plan. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
