Job Description

As a Machine Learning Engineer at Atlassian, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of cutting-edge machine learning algorithms and training models. Collaborating with product, engineering, and analytics teams, you will integrate AI functionalities into Atlassian’s products and services. Your work will involve designing system and model architectures, conducting rigorous experimentation and evaluations, and applying AI/ML to various product challenges to enhance Atlassian products. You will actively contribute to the development of Atlassian Intelligence features aimed at improving team productivity.

Requirements

On your first day, we’ll expect you to have:

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferably in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Expertise in Python or Java, ability to write performant production-quality code, and familiarity with SQL. Knowledge of Spark and cloud data environments is a plus (e.g., AWS, Databricks).
• Experience building and scaling machine learning models with large datasets.
• An agile development mindset, valuing constant iteration and improvement.

It’s great, but not required, if you have:

• Experience in a consumer or B2C space for a SaaS product provider, or in the enterprise/B2B space.
• Experience in developing deep learning models and working with LLM-related applications.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills in ambiguous and complex situations, with the ability to develop innovative solutions.

Compensation

Atlassian aims to provide equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation. The base pay for this role varies by geographic zone in the U.S.:

• Zone A: $175,500 USD - $229,125 USD
• Zone B: $158,400 - $206,800 USD
• Zone C: $145,800 - $190,350 USD
