Job Description

Static Media is looking for freelance feature writers who live and breathe food—whether it’s cooking and dining trends, ingredient deep-dives, or cocktail culture. We’re seeking creative, self-motivated writers to craft clean, compelling features with strong sourcing and a clear point of view for our teams at Chowhound, Mahsed, Tasting Table, and The Takeout. Writers typically contribute to one brand but may occasionally write across multiple food sites depending on need. This is a remote freelance role with flexible hours and consistent assignments. It is open to U.S.-based candidates only.

Requirements

• 3+ years of writing or editing experience
• Proficiency in CMS platforms
• Familiarity with AP Style

What You’ll Be Doing

• Choose from a curated list of feature topics
• Research and write 2,600- to 3,000-word articles in our custom CMS
• Turn around clean drafts within 1–7 days, depending on assignment
• Follow our editorial strategy and style guide to keep quality high and tone consistent

• Compensation: 8 cents per word. Writers contribute feature articles ranging from 2,600 to 3,000 words. We ask for a minimum of one article per week. Completing one to three articles per week is common, resulting in estimated earnings ranging from $208–$720 per week.
