Job Description

Kindthread is seeking a Power BI Developer to drive data-driven decision-making across its operations. The role involves developing comprehensive Power BI reports and dashboards from the Redshift data warehouse while collaborating with stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver actionable insights. The developer will transform complex retail and multi-channel data into clear visualizations that guide strategic initiatives and operational improvements. Strong Power BI technical skills, business acumen, and excellent communication abilities are essential.

Essential Job Duties

BI Dashboard Development & Reporting

• Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports in Power BI.
• Create complex DAX measures and calculated columns for advanced analytics.
• Develop repeatable templates for consistent dashboard development.
• Build visualization tools that integrate sales, customer, inventory, and operational metrics.
• Create documentation and facilitate training for end-users on reporting tools.
• Maintain technical documentation in Confluence and SharePoint.

Data Analysis & Visualization

• Work with existing data models in Redshift for compelling visualizations.
• Manipulate large datasets to identify business trends and insights.
• Ensure data consistency and integrity across reporting systems.
• Perform data validation and quality checks for accuracy.

Stakeholder Collaboration & Requirements Gathering

• Partner with stakeholders to understand reporting needs and translate them into technical solutions.
• Present findings to leadership and cross-functional teams.
• Facilitate requirements gathering sessions for new reporting initiatives.
• Support ad-hoc analysis requests and provide deep dives into business performance.
• Manage changing priorities while maintaining quality deliverables.

Project Management & Process Improvement

• Work within agile methodologies using Jira or similar tools.
• Manage multiple concurrent projects while adapting to shifting priorities.
• Identify opportunities to automate reporting processes.
• Collaborate with team members to establish best practices.
• Document processes and maintain team documentation.

Required Skills/Abilities

• 2-4 years of experience in a business intelligence or reporting role.
• Power BI expertise, including dashboard development and data modeling.
• DAX proficiency for creating measures and advanced analytics.
• Power Query understanding for data transformation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly advanced Excel skills.
• Experience with Confluence for documentation.
• Experience with Jira or similar project management tools.
• Understanding of retail/multi-channel business models and KPIs.
• Experience with sales, marketing, inventory, and customer data.
• Knowledge of data visualization best practices.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Stakeholder management experience.
• Adaptability to handle changing priorities and deadlines.
• Eager to learn and grow with a collaborative mindset.

Preferred Skills/Abilities

• SQL skills with ability to write queries (Redshift experience a plus).
• Experience with other BI tools (Tableau, Looker, etc.).
• Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
• Familiarity with customer analytics and e-commerce KPIs.
• Version control experience (Git).
• Knowledge of data governance and best practices.
• Experience creating and modifying database views.

Compensation

$85,000 - $95,000 annual salary. Kindthread encourages applications from candidates at all levels. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
