JOB DESCRIPTION
Lincoln Park Zoo seeks a seasonal part-time photographer and digital asset management specialist to shoot photos of ZooLights and associated events, and to tag and catalog these photos in the zoo’s digital asset management platform, Extensis Portfolio. This position is part-time and seasonal (8 weeks) from mid-November to mid-January, requiring on-site work at the zoo for 20 hours per week, often in the evenings. The work schedule is based around the event calendar.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with Marketing, Communications, and Events teams to develop shot lists.
- Shoot candid photos of ZooLights and affiliated events, ensuring varying weather and crowd conditions.
- Capture select special holiday events, including:
- ZooLights staff preview—Wed. 11/19
- ZooLights sponsor tree lighting and member preview—Thurs. 11/20
- Sensory-Friendly Night—Tues. 11/25
- Adults Night Out: Holidaze—Thurs. 12/11
- Elf at ZooLights—Sun. 12/21
- New Year’s Eve at the Zoo—Wed. 12/31 (can depart by 8:30 pm)
- Shoot photos of zoo animals as requested while adhering to safety guidelines.
- File and tag photos in Extensis Portfolio; deliver sneak peeks within two days and full sets within five business days.
- Approach guests professionally to request and shoot posed photos.
- Adhere to zoo brand guidelines.
- Participate in weekly touchbase meetings with supervisor and assist with team support as needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Education in and/or experience with photography and photo editing.
- Friendly demeanor; comfortable interacting with guests.
- Strong interpersonal skills; respectful interactions with diverse groups.
- Able to exercise sound judgment regarding photo opportunities.
- Decisive with quick photo selection and editing.
- Able to work independently and within a team.
- Flexible and adaptable to varying working conditions.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
- High School Degree or GED preferred.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Experience with photography and a documented portfolio.
PHYSICAL AND VISUAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to remain stationary for 3-5 hours/day and move around in different environments.
- Ability to perform various physical tasks including climbing, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Willingness to work in all weather conditions and wear required personal protective equipment.
- No allergies to plants or animals at the zoo.
- Capability to traverse zoo grounds in varying weather conditions.
AVAILABILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and evenings until 8 p.m. Must work at least three days/week.
