Job Description

We are urgently seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer for a contract position in Sydney. The ideal candidate must possess strong skills as a Build/DevOps Engineer with over 5 years of hands-on experience in supporting, automating, and optimizing mission critical deployments. The role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining automated CI/CD pipelines, managing cloud or on-premise infrastructure using IaC tools, and ensuring high availability and scalability of systems. The candidate will also lead and mentor junior engineers, establish best practices, and integrate DevSecOps practices throughout the development lifecycle.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Build/DevOps Engineer.
• Design, implement, and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines.
• Build and manage cloud or on-premise infrastructure using IaC tools.
• Monitor system performance, ensuring high availability and scalability.
• Lead and mentor junior DevOps engineers.
• Establish and enforce best practices for DevOps processes and workflows.
• Set up monitoring and alerting systems for proactive issue detection.
• Integrate DevSecOps practices throughout the development lifecycle.
• Act as a liaison between development, QA, and operations teams.
• Optimize application and infrastructure performance.
• Evaluate, recommend, and implement tools and technologies to improve processes.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation for configurations and workflows.
• Stay updated with emerging trends and relevant innovations.
• Experience with Java build tools (Maven, Gradle, Fastlane).
• Experience with Docker tools (Harbor, Docker, Docker-Compose).
• Experience in configuration tools (Ansible, Ansible Tower).
• Experience with Docker or Kubernetes and its ecosystems.
• Extensive knowledge of Jenkins, GitLab, and ADO pipelines.
• Experience coding in Python, Bash shell, PowerShell, and Java.
• Strong understanding of application development methodologies.
• Experience working with Unix/Linux systems.
• Extensive experience in RHEL and SELinux.
• Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, MAC addresses, IP packets, DNS, OSI layers).
• Expertise in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
• In-depth knowledge of operating systems (processes, threads).

Additional Information

Duration: 6 Months with possible extension.
