Job Description:
At Wizards of the Coast, we connect people around the world through play and imagination. We are looking for a Lead Visual Designer to develop Play Tools for D&D Beyond, the premier digital companion for Dungeons & Dragons. This role provides a unique opportunity to build innovative and intuitive tools that will enhance the D&D experience for millions of players and Dungeon Masters globally.
Responsibilities:
- Develop UX solutions for D&D Beyond with a strong understanding of product design, systems design, UI style, layout, typography, color, usability, and interaction design.
- Scope plan and deliver design projects independently, proactively identifying, communicating, and solving quality issues.
- Deliver appropriate levels of design artifacts for the team (e.g., strategy articulation, discovery/research results, journey maps, flows, wireframes, high-fidelity comps, style guides, etc.)
- Break down experiences thoughtfully for teams to ship value incrementally, making intentional trade-offs with a clear perspective focused on optimal player impact.
Qualifications:
- A degree in UX Design, Art, Information Architecture, a related design field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Portfolio and/or case study of interactive design work demonstrating excellent design sensibilities and craft skills.
- Strong art direction background, experience in crafting and evolving style guides and design systems in Figma or similar tools.
- Hands-on expertise in responsive web design, with familiarity in mobile app patterns.
- Ability to think conceptually in both visual and interface design, providing a viewpoint beyond mere functionality.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams including product management and engineering.
- Comfortable using data to inform design decisions, even with incomplete data.
- A growth mindset towards continuous improvement for yourself, the team, and the product.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with design systems for multichannel products, specifically with multi-brand architecture.
- A love and passion for D&D and tabletop RPGs.
- Experience designing in both product design and marketing contexts.
- Background designing and shipping in the games industry.
Additional Details:
- Employment Type: Temporary
- Location: Fully Remote
- Duration: 6 months with possibility to extend to 12 months
The hourly pay range for this position is $90.00 to $125.00, varying based on experience, skills, and market conditions.
