Job Description

ImageX has an opportunity for a freelance Senior UX/UI Designer, seeking an exceptional communicator and presenter with solid consulting instincts, attention to detail, and a passion for high-quality, user-centered design. The role is remote with variable hours based on project requirements and offers opportunities to grow within an industry-leading web development agency that values work/life balance.

As a Senior UX designer, you will lead and contribute to design outcomes across client engagements, frame problems, facilitate discovery and testing, present recommendations, and help unblock teams. You are expected to stay current on digital trends and apply responsible AI to improve delivery without compromising privacy or quality.

Responsibilities

• Lead client workshops (discovery, prioritization, user testing) and drive decisions with clear facilitation and synthesis.
• Present work persuasively to executives and cross-functional teams, explaining the rationale behind design decisions and trade-offs.
• Plan and conduct research (interviews, usability tests, surveys, heuristic and IA evaluations) and turn findings into actionable insights.
• Design IA (navigation, sitemaps, taxonomy/labeling) and validate via card/tree testing.
• Create flows, wireframes, and prototypes to explore interactions and de-risk scope.
• Define and extend design systems (components, tokens, guidelines) with accessibility considerations (WCAG 2.2).
• Partner with Project Managers and Engineering to refine scope, handle constraints, and deliver high-quality experiences.
• Apply AI tools responsibly to enhance research synthesis, explore design variations, and analyze feedback while adhering to privacy and consent best practices.
• Measure impact using success criteria such as task success, CSAT, conversion, and support deflection.

Requirements

• Senior-level UX designer with solid UI craft.
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complexity and influence decisions.
• Consulting mindset with the ability to push back empathetically, reframe asks, and align stakeholders.
• Strong experience in senior UX craft, including end-to-end flows, wireframes, prototypes, visual/UI skills, and knowledge of accessibility and design systems.
• Proficient in planning and executing research studies; able to turn findings into actionable recommendations.
• Experience with tools like Figma, Adobe CC, and comfortable with testing/IA platforms (e.g., Optimal Workshop).
• Ability to utilize AI effectively to speed up research and analyze feedback while adhering to ethical practices.
• Experience mentoring more junior team members is a plus.

Compensation

Target Hourly Rate Range: $75.00-$85.00/hour CAD, based on benchmarking for Vancouver location and subject to change based on experience and location.
