Job Description

ImageX has an opportunity for a freelance Senior UX/UI Designer – an exceptional communicator and presenter with strong consulting instincts, attention to detail, and a passion for high-quality, user-centered design. This role is client-facing and consultative, where you will lead and contribute to design outcomes across client engagements, frame problems, facilitate discovery and testing, present recommendations, and help unblock teams. You are always evolving, staying current on digital trends and applying responsible AI to improve delivery without compromising privacy or quality. This is a remote contract position with variable hours during business hours based on project requirements.

Requirements

• You are a Senior-level UX designer with solid UI craft.

• Strong exceptional communication & presentation skills; able to translate complexity, handle live Q&A, and influence decisions with high emotional intelligence.

• A consulting mindset is needed: pushing back with empathy, reframing asks, removing impediments, and aligning stakeholders.

• Proficient in senior UX craft, including end-to-end flows, wireframes, prototypes; possess strong visual/UI skills, and knowledge of accessibility and design systems.

• Research proficiency: capable of planning and running studies; able to turn findings into actionable recommendations.

• Experience with tools such as Figma, Adobe CC; and comfortable with testing/IA platforms (e.g., Optimal Workshop).

• Applied AI: uses AI tools responsibly to accelerate research synthesis, explore design variations, and analyze feedback while following ethical practices regarding privacy, consent, and anonymization.

• Experience mentoring more junior team members is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead client workshops (discovery, prioritization, user testing) and drive decisions with clear facilitation and synthesis.

• Present work persuasively to executives and cross-functional teams, explaining the rationale behind design decisions and trade-offs.

• Plan and conduct research (interviews, usability tests, surveys, heuristic and IA evaluations) and turn findings into actionable insights.

• Design Information Architecture (IA) including navigation, sitemaps, and taxonomy/labeling, validated via card/tree testing.

• Create flows, wireframes, and prototypes to explore interactions and de-risk scope.

• Define and extend design systems (components, tokens, guidelines) with accessibility (WCAG 2.2) in mind.

• Partner with Project Managers and Engineering to refine scope, handle constraints, and ship high-quality experiences.

• Measure impact using agreed success criteria (e.g., task success, CSAT, conversion, support deflection).

Compensation

Target Hourly Rate Range: $75.00-$85.00/hour CAD (based on benchmarking for our Vancouver location - subject to change based on location and experience).
