We are seeking a freelance UX designer to conduct a comprehensive UX audit of an existing Android app utilized by warehouse employees for managing and fulfilling automotive parts orders. The objective of this role is to identify usability issues, accessibility gaps, and design improvement opportunities to enhance the app’s efficiency and intuitiveness in alignment with Material Design 3 guidelines. This position is a 5-week engagement, with the potential for extension based on project needs. The role is remote-friendly, but requires working during Eastern Time hours.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in UX design, research, or product design.
  • Proven experience conducting UX audits, heuristic evaluations, or design assessments.
  • Deep understanding of Material Design principles and Android design patterns.
  • Familiarity with WCAG / Android accessibility standards.
  • Proficiency in Figma, including file organization, components, and design systems.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills to synthesize findings for design and product teams.

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience designing for enterprise, logistics, or warehouse operations environments.
  • Background in UX research or service design.
  • Ability to visualize opportunities through concept sketches or quick design mockups.

Responsibilities

  • Review and evaluate the app against Material Design 3 and Android accessibility standards.
  • Conduct a Figma file review to assess design consistency, component usage, and adherence to design system principles.
  • Analyze existing personas and user needs.
  • Perform a product journey audit to identify friction points and inefficiencies within key workflows (e.g., order picking, tracking, and fulfillment).
  • Review existing product data to uncover usability patterns or problem areas.
  • Recommend and prioritize UI/UX improvements, balancing user needs, business goals, and technical feasibility.
  • Identify design opportunities to streamline workflows or enhance user satisfaction.
  • Create a Findings Report that synthesizes insights with visuals, examples, and actionable recommendations.

Benefits

  • Competitive hourly rate ($60-80/hour) - paid fairly for your value and expertise.
  • The opportunity to work with a talented global and remote-friendly team.
  • Flexibility to manage time without micromanagement.
  • Opportunities for skill and portfolio growth by working on interesting projects across multiple areas.
  • A culture of kindness and support, where you’ll be respected and part of a team that celebrates wins together.
