Idle Hands
Screenwriter is needed in London, United Kingdom.
Idle Hands is a character-driven psychological drama with darkly comic edges, set in the fractured creative world of two artists working to create something meaningful before their lives unravel. The film blends grounded realism with stylised, surreal sequences that reveal the characters’ internal states. The core story follows Arthur, a blocked playwright on the verge of emotional collapse, and Zoe, a gifted performer whose intensity both revitalizes and destabilizes him. As they attempt to stage a play together, their artistic ambitions, personal traumas, and obsessions become entangled, blurring the line between life and art. The tone references Whiplash, Black Swan, Birdman, and Eternal Sunshine but offers its own intimate, emotionally raw perspective. The climax is a cathartic theatre sequence fusing performance and psyche. We are looking for a collaborative screenwriting partner who values character-driven storytelling, can refine structure and themes, and is comfortable weaving surreal elements with purpose. Experience in psychological drama or theatre-inspired narratives would be ideal. The goal is to continue developing the existing script and materials towards a production-ready screenplay that enhances both the emotional power and cinematic impact.
