Job Description
As a Production/Motion Designer (Temporary) within the CNN Design group, your primary focus will be to create innovative, effective and arresting design in all aspects of television and studio production for CNN programs, specials, and documentaries. You will contribute to creative direction on key projects while being comfortable designing for television and familiar with the entire design and production process, including ideation, design, animation, presentation, delivery, and execution. You are a graphic designer and a motion generalist, proficient with both 2D and 3D tools.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience:
- A degree in motion design, animation, graphic design, or relevant experience.
- At least 2+ years of professional experience producing high-end creative work for television.
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite including After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
- Preferred knowledge of Maxon Cinema 4D + Redshift (or other accelerated renderers) for motion design.
- Proficient knowledge of plugins such as RedGiant, Boris FX, Sapphire, AE Expression, C4D Expresso, X-Particles, etc.
- Strong conceptual designer with proficiency in motion design, typography, color theory, illustration, photography, and layout.
- Experience managing fast-changing deliverables and multiple projects simultaneously.
- Flexible schedule required.
- A good understanding of compositing techniques.
- Strong design/production portfolio required.
- A reel is required, showcasing 2-3 case studies with specific contributions for each.
Role Accountabilities
- Work with creative directors, producers, and editors to create animated graphics with excellent attention to detail.
- Collaborate with the creative team and editorial partners to develop concepts and motion graphics for various projects.
- Design and develop looks and packages for news programs, special events, and documentaries.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and new design/production tools.
- Act as an experienced problem solver, translating editorial storytelling into creative solutions.
- Work fluidly between 2D and 3D animation styles.
- Articulate design concepts to team members and clients.
- Maintain a self-motivated and positive attitude, contributing to a creative, inclusive workplace.
- Comfortably work in a highly collaborative, deadline-driven environment.
- Exhibit excellent communication skills.
