Job Description

ImageX has an opportunity for a freelance Senior UX/UI Designer – an exceptional communicator and presenter with strong consulting instincts, attention to detail, and a passion for high-quality, user-centered design. This role involves leading and contributing to design outcomes across client engagements in a client-facing and consultative manner. The ideal candidate will facilitate workshops, handle live Q&A, present recommendations, and stay current on digital trends, applying responsible AI to improve processes. This is a remote contract position with variable hours based on project requirements, and opportunities for growth within the agency.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Senior-level UX designer with solid UI craft.
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills, capable of translating complexity and influencing decisions.
• Consulting mindset: able to push back with empathy, reframe asks, and align stakeholders.
• Skilled in facilitating discovery sessions, user-testing workshops, and critiques with clear outcomes.
• Proficiency in senior UX craft: end-to-end flows, wireframes, prototypes; strong visual/UI; accessibility and design systems.
• Research proficiency: capable of planning and running studies and turning findings into actionable recommendations.
• Familiarity with design and testing tools: Figma, Adobe CC, and comfortable with IA platforms (e.g., Optimal Workshop).
• Experience applying AI tools responsibly in design and research processes, adhering to ethical practices.
• Experience mentoring junior team members is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead client workshops (discovery, prioritization, user testing) and drive decisions through facilitation and synthesis.
• Present work persuasively to executives and cross-functional teams, explaining the rationale behind design decisions.
• Plan and conduct research (interviews, usability tests, surveys) and turn findings into actionable insights.
• Design IA (navigation, sitemaps, taxonomy/labeling) and validate through card/tree testing.
• Create flows, wireframes, and prototypes to explore interactions and mitigate scope risks.
• Define and extend design systems with a focus on accessibility (WCAG 2.2).
• Collaborate with Project Managers and Engineering to refine scope and deliver high-quality experiences.
• Measure impact using agreed success criteria (e.g., task success, CSAT, conversion).

Compensation

Target Hourly Rate Range: $75.00-$85.00/hour CAD (subject to change based on location and experience). The focus is on ensuring fair compensation based on the unique skills and experience of each team member while aligning with defined pay ranges established through extensive market research.
