Videographer is needed in Tokyo, Japan.

I’m looking for a videographer who is sensitive to atmosphere and nuance. This project focuses on quiet surrealism — moments that feel like they exist between waking and dreaming, where space itself has a memory. The tone is closer to Kagero-za than conventional narrative work: restrained, poetic, and quietly unsettling.

At the centre is a figure called Rampant Radiated Robot Man — a person who moves as though he does not fully belong to this world. His presence alters the environment rather than commands it. The intention is not spectacle, but to create images where silence, space, and the act of existing become the story.

I’m especially interested in liminal locations — spaces that seem familiar yet distant, empty yet alive. As I’m from the UK, I do not know Japan’s hidden or unusual places, so your perspective on suitable environments will be invaluable. I’m hoping to find settings that feel slightly disconnected from reality, as if time has paused there.

I will be in Tokyo from 9 February to 9 March, and I expect the shoot to take place on one day within that period. I’m looking for a very small crew — ideally one person, maximum three. This is a micro-budget art project, so I’m not expecting commercial-level production. I will cover necessary local expenses, including admissions and train travel on the day.

If our creative direction aligns, I will share visual references and footage that show how this character interacts with space. Before discussing details, I would be grateful to see your work — a reel or any examples that demonstrate your ability to use stillness, composition, and atmosphere as storytelling tools.

My hope is not just to complete a single shoot, but to begin an ongoing creative relationship. This character and the world around him will continue to evolve, and I’m looking for someone who might be interested in exploring that journey together.
