Job Description

We are looking for a Java DevOps Engineer with over 5 years of experience to join our team in a remote capacity from Toronto. The ideal candidate will have strong technical competencies in Unix VM administration, scripting, application environment support, and experience with various middleware and DevOps tools.

Requirements

• Administering Unix VM Hosts

• Expertise in Linux/Unix (AIX) environments.

• Proficient in scripting with bash/shell.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Good understanding of application environments and troubleshooting related issues.

• Experience managing Java exceptions, Oracle DB errors, and similar application failures.

• Proficient in deploying builds using Software Configuration Management tools such as Jenkins, CHEF, and Bitbucket.

• Experience in alert handling, monitoring (Splunk), and incident triaging.

• Familiarity with networking concepts, including Firewall/VPN.

• Experience with server-side automation tools like Ansible or similar.

• Knowledge of ITSM tools (BMC Remedy Helix, Jira).

• Experience in setting up and administering middleware tools such as IBM MQ, Kafka, and Tibco FTL.

• Security and Quality Orientation, including SSL certificate management.

• Knowledge of Google Cloud is a plus.

• Excellent communication skills.

• Experience in application support on Unix servers.

Expected Technical Skills

• OS: Unix (AIX) / Windows

• Scripting and DevOps: PowerShell, Bash/Shell, Jenkins, CHEF, Ansible, Bitbucket, Chocolatey packages, and Venafi.

• Middleware: IBM MQ, Kafka, Tibco FTL.

• Networking: Concepts of Firewall/VPN.

• Monitoring Tools: Splunk, UC4.

• ITSM Tools: BMC Remedy Helix, Jira.

• Internet / Web Technologies: Apache, Nginx, JBoss, Tomcat, Microsoft IIS 4-7, Typo3 (Good to have).
