Horror Game Developer for Simple Booth Project
I am creating a small self-service horror game experience to run in a dark booth on a Windows PC connected to a TV. The setup is for standing players and will use only 3 buttons to keep controls as simple as possible: forward, turn left, and turn right, with no mouse support or additional actions. The game should feature a single 20-minute session that begins with a tutorial screen and only starts once a specific start button is pressed. The main objective is basic exploration to find an exit, and the experience should be scary and atmospheric, with tension, pacing, and good use of audio cues like whispers and environmental sounds. A unique feature is a sound detection mechanic where the game listens to player microphone input and triggers a penalty if players are too loud for a certain time, with tunable sensitivity. At the session end, the game should fade to black with a message, then either return to the intro screen or exit, whichever is more stable. If this initial game works out well, I intend to commission more projects in the future to refine and expand the concept.
