Job Description

Position: Freelance Motion Designer (Remote)

Monks is looking to expand our creative service capabilities by hiring a Freelance Motion Designer until the end of January 2026. You will be helping to build the creative offering for a top performance marketing agency. You will partner with our media buying team and alongside clients to develop creative that drives results. We are looking for a fast, flexible go-getter with a sharp eye, adept skills, and the drive to deliver top-notch creative for our clients.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for animating paid media ads for digital channels (including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube) using both new and existing client materials. You’ll be somewhat of a motion generalist, occasionally jumping from animation into short-form video editing.

• Collaborate with designers and producers to create ads driving performance results for clients’ media programs.
• Manage multiple motion-based projects with tight timelines.
• Conceptualize animated content optimized for paid media channels.
• Understand or learn about paid media channel best practices.
• Fluency in Adobe Creative Cloud, focused in After Effects + Premiere Pro.

Requirements

• 2-4 years of technical experience with motion design and video editing, preferably at a performance-focused agency.
• Portfolio is required.
• In-depth knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Adobe After Effects and Premiere.
• Experience in paid media ad animation.
• 4-year college degree (preferably in design) or equivalent work experience.

Not a must, but a plus:

• Experience with HTML5 ad animation.
• Experience using Gen AI tools for ad builds and concepting.
• Experience building versioning workflows or working with automated versioning tools.
• Familiarity with bolthires suite.
• B2C and B2B experience.

Return to Office Policy

This role is subject to our Return to Office (RTO) policy. If you reside within a commutable distance of one of our office locations, you will be expected to work from the office a set number of days per week. The specific details will be in accordance with the company’s then-current RTO policy, which is subject to change from time to time.

Compensation

Monks has provided an hourly rate that represents its good faith estimate of what Monks may pay for the position at the time of posting. The hourly rate is $33—$38 USD. The rate offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on job-related factors, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
