Job Description

Iron EagleX (IEX), a subsidiary of General Dynamics Information Technology, is seeking a Data Scientist SME to join our dynamic team in Crystal City, VA. This role focuses on creating and delivering innovative analytics through production software as part of a fast-paced, multi-discipline team. The position requires travel for 60-90 days to CONUS sites annually and is onsite. Responsibilities include building Python-based analytic services, updating web-based GUIs for visualization, designing automated methods for data linking, managing the data lifecycle, and improving methodologies in classified environments.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Production Python expertise including packages, APIs/services, and dependency management.
• SQL proficiency and experience with large-scale systems (e.g., Trino, PostgreSQL, Hive, OpenSearch, Elasticsearch).
• Experience with model productionization using FastAPI, CI/CD, Docker, and Linux.
• Strong skills in NumPy, SciPy, pandas, scikit-learn, and Matplotlib.
• Knowledge in entity resolution, graph/relational reasoning, and applied statistics.
• Experience integrating structured, unstructured text, and semi-structured data.
• U.S. Citizenship is required due to government contract requirements.

• Orchestration & Data Quality: Airflow
• Distributed & Streaming: Spark, Kafka
• Development and CI/CD: Kubernetes, pytest
• Observability & Reliability: Data & model drift monitoring

Education & Certifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Advanced degrees are a plus.

Security Clearance:

• An active TS/SCI security clearance is REQUIRED, and candidates must be willing to obtain a CI Poly.

Work Requirements:

• 5+ years of related experience, may vary based on technical training, certifications, or degree.
• Travel Required: 10-25%.
• U.S. Citizenship Required.

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $204,000 - $276,000, based on experience, geographic location, and contractual requirements.
