Job Description

The Snowflake Developer role involves collaborating with architects to design and develop data models, schemas, and a robust data warehouse/lake architecture. Key responsibilities include building and maintaining efficient ETL/ELT pipelines, monitoring and optimizing performance, ensuring data integration from various sources, implementing security measures, developing scripting and automation tasks, and maintaining comprehensive documentation.

Requirements

• Technical Expertise: Strong proficiency in SQL, data modeling, database design principles, and experience with ETL processes and tools.
• Platform Experience: In-depth understanding of the Snowflake platform features (e.g., virtual warehouses, Snowpipes, data sharing, time travel).
• Programming Languages: Experience with Python or Snowflake scripting for development and automation.
• Cloud Exposure: Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure.
• Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot complex data issues.
• Education: A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is often a minimum requirement.

Key Responsibilities

• Data Architecture & Modeling: Collaborating with architects to design and develop data models, schemas, and a well-structured data warehouse/lake architecture.
• ETL/ELT Pipeline Development: Building and maintaining efficient data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows using Snowflake and other tools to process large datasets.
• Performance Optimization: Monitoring system health, performance, and resource utilization; tuning SQL queries and configurations to enhance data processing speeds and cost efficiency.
• Data Integration: Ensuring seamless data integration from various sources (e.g., AWS S3, Azure Blob Storage) and troubleshooting related issues.
• Security & Compliance: Implementing and enforcing security measures, access controls, and encryption to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with industry standards.
• Scripting & Automation: Developing stored procedures, user-defined functions (UDFs) using Python or Snowflake Scripting, and automation tasks.
• Documentation: Creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation for data architecture, processes, and troubleshooting procedures.
