Job Description
Our client, a forward-thinking creative studio specializing in immersive digital experiences, is seeking a talented Senior UX/UI Designer to join their team in Edmonton, Alberta. This role requires the designer to work on-site to foster close collaboration and in-person brainstorming sessions that are crucial for developing cutting-edge projects. You will be instrumental in shaping the user experience and interface design for a variety of innovative applications, including VR/AR platforms, interactive installations, and cutting-edge web and mobile experiences.
Your responsibilities will include conducting user research, defining user flows and personas, creating wireframes, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity visual designs. You will work closely with product managers, developers, and other designers to translate user needs and business requirements into intuitive, engaging, and aesthetically pleasing designs. A strong portfolio showcasing your work in interactive design, preferably with experience in immersive technologies, is essential.
You should have a deep understanding of user-centered design principles, usability best practices, and the ability to articulate design decisions clearly. Familiarity with industry-standard design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite) is required.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design of user interfaces and user experiences for innovative digital products, including VR/AR applications.
- Conduct user research, usability testing, and competitive analysis to inform design decisions.
- Develop user personas, journey maps, and information architecture.
- Create wireframes, prototypes (low and high fidelity), and detailed design specifications.
- Design visually appealing and intuitive user interfaces that align with brand identity.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, developers, and stakeholders.
- Iterate on designs based on user feedback, technical constraints, and business goals.
- Present design concepts and rationale effectively to internal teams and clients.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in UX/UI design and immersive experiences.
- Mentor junior designers and contribute to the team’s design process and standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in UX/UI design, with a strong portfolio demonstrating expertise.
- Proven experience designing complex interactive applications, ideally with VR/AR or other immersive technologies.
- Proficiency in industry-standard design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, and the Adobe Creative Suite.
- Solid understanding of user-centered design principles, usability, and accessibility standards.
- Experience conducting user research and usability testing.
- Excellent visual design skills with a strong sense of typography, color, and layout.
- Strong communication, presentation, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively on-site in Edmonton, Alberta, and contribute positively to a collaborative team environment.
