Job Description

This is a freelance full-time hours project/limited term position with an estimated duration of up to 4 - 12 months, unless otherwise amended or terminated as deliverables within this project are completed. The NBC Sports On Air Graphics Team is looking for a broadcast motion graphics designer for its rapidly growing portfolio of live sports properties and studio shows. You will be working in a collaborative environment, focusing on hands-on production of broadcast motion design work, including both ground-up designs and updates to existing templates for properties such as Sunday Night Football, NBA, Premier League, and College Football. This role demands a strong command of tools like After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Cinema 4D, alongside a spirit of teamwork and urgency to elevate craft.

Responsibilities

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Working closely with the Emmy-awarded NBC Sports Creative team.
  • Creating graphic and animated elements, including in-game inserts and interstitial graphics, show packages, opens, and titles.
  • Effectively communicating concepts and ideas to the Art Director and design team.
  • Managing multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining consistency with the overall graphic package.
  • Interfacing and collaborating with multiple producers and departments under tight deadlines.

Requirements

Qualifications and experience required include:

  • College graduate with a degree in graphic design or fine arts.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working at a network or broadcast design agency.
  • Understanding of design element implementation in network television and live sports environments.
  • Passion for show packaging and current graphic design trends.
  • Strong concept and storyboard design abilities.
  • Strong design and typography skills.
  • Understanding of good motion theory.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented, flexible, and deadline-driven with good collaboration skills.
  • Expert knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Expert knowledge of Adobe After Effects.
  • Extensive knowledge of Maxon Cinema 4D, including modeling, texturing, lighting, animating, use of dynamics, MoGraph, render optimization, Red Shift, etc.
  • A love of sports is a plus.
