Job Description

Halogen Engineering Group is looking for a Software Engineer with 14+ years of experience who develops, maintains, and enhances complex software systems. Responsibilities include working on processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, and manipulation of large data sets. The individual will work both independently and as part of a team, reviewing and testing software components for adherence to design requirements, resolving software problem reports, and providing inputs for system design. There is no travel required for this role, which is located in Columbia, Maryland, and operates on a day shift with onsite work.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline from an accredited college or university, plus fourteen (14) years of experience as a Software Engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• Alternatively, sixteen (16) years of experience as a Software Engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements.
• Debug existing software and correct defects.
• Provide recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards.
• Design and code new software or modify existing software to add features.
• Integrate existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments.
• Develop simple data queries for databases or data repositories.
• Write or review software and system documentation.
• Serve as team lead appropriate to the software development process for projects.
• Design or implement complex database interfaces/queries.
• Develop or implement algorithms meeting system performance standards.
• Assist with developing and executing test procedures for software components.
• Modify existing software to correct errors or improve performance.
• Design, develop, and modify software systems using scientific analysis and mathematical models.
• Implement recommendations for improving documentation and software development processes.
• Coordinate software system installation and monitor equipment functioning.

Security Clearance

Current TS/SCI with Polygraph required (Poly date must be within the past five years).

Salary Range

The projected compensation range for this position is $213K to $220K (annualized USD), with salary determined by various factors including location, individual education, experience, and contract-specific requirements.
