Job Description

The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) IT Custom Application Development Section seeks to hire two Microsoft .NET Web Developer III’s. The developers will design, develop, test, implement, and maintain solutions and features for applications in a Microsoft .NET environment integrated with Oracle databases. Responsibilities include designing and implementing Oracle database changes and providing reliable, responsive support for new and existing projects, focusing on redesigning legacy applications to meet current business needs. The developers will work approximately 40 hours per week and must be motivated to stay up-to-date with technological advancements.

Requirements

The ideal candidate must have proven experience in application development, user interface development for custom applications, database design and development, and the following key skills:

  • Advanced level application development skillsets in Microsoft .NET environment (8+ years).
  • Coding experience in .NET framework, MVC, C#, JavaScript, and Bootstrap (8+ years).
  • Experience with Object Oriented Design.
  • Experience applying accessibility and security standards (6+ years).
  • Experience with relational databases, particularly Oracle, including stored procedures, performance tuning, and SQL (8+ years).
  • Experience working with Azure DevOps, code management, and CI/CD (4+ years).
  • Experience in Power BI for report development.
  • Experience creating web APIs.
  • Expertise in Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and following IT best practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical documentation.
  • Ability to work independently while conducting research and managing project timelines.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

Additional skillsets that will be helpful include experience working at DNR or in another government agency, familiarity with Microsoft Suite (SharePoint, Teams, etc.), and GIS, especially Esri JavaScript APIs.

Project Details

This position will involve analyzing, designing, developing, testing, implementing, and maintaining applications in a Microsoft .NET environment integrated with Oracle databases while also designing and implementing required Oracle database changes. Developers will collaborate with supervisors, project managers, business relationship managers, and business customers to ensure that they take initiative and own their tasks.

Additional Details

  • Must adhere to State of Wisconsin and DNR Acceptable Technology, Access, and Security policies.
  • Regular work hours are during business hours between 7:00 AM and 5:30 PM; availability for after-hour deployments is required.
  • High-speed internet must be provided by the employee for remote work.
  • State holidays are unpaid unless specified in the work agreement; overtime and weekend differential are not applicable.
  • Equipment must be returned at the end of the contract, with costs for replacements or shipping covered by the supplier if applicable.
