Job Description

Urgent requirement for an AWS DevOps Engineer with Observability skills on a contract basis in Sydney. This role will focus 70-80% on non-functional requirements, production assurance, and building observability capabilities for two AWS greenfield applications. Experience with ITRS Geneos will be considered a valuable skill set.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement observability solutions for AWS-based applications, including metrics, logging, and distributed tracing.
• Define and deliver non-functional requirements (performance, scalability, reliability) for production systems.
• Build and maintain monitoring dashboards and alerting systems to ensure application health and SLA compliance.
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to integrate observability into CI/CD pipelines.
• Automate deployment, monitoring, and alerting processes using DevOps best practices.
• Conduct root cause analysis and improve incident response processes.
• Drive production assurance activities and ensure resilience in low-connectivity environments.

Required Skills:

• Strong experience in DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, ECS, Lambda, CloudWatch, etc.).
• Expertise in monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, OpenTelemetry).
• Familiarity with ITRS Geneos for advanced monitoring and alerting.
• Solid understanding of non-functional requirements and performance engineering.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Shell, etc.).
• Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Nice to Have:

• Knowledge of ITIL processes and production support best practices.
• Experience with security and compliance in cloud environments.
• Familiarity with the financial services domain (optional).
