Job Description
Employees in this class are responsible for new development and maintenance of the existing application for Eligibility & Enrollment (CARES) in Alabama Medicaid Agency. They are responsible for systems analysis, design and development, performing moderately to highly complex programming and systems analysis work on projects with integrated systems that impact multiple applications to support end-user needs. The role requires full proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server TSQL to create Stored Procedures, SSIS ETL packages, conduct unit tests, document developed code, and provide status updates as requested by the Project Manager and Development Manager.
Requirements for the Role
Required Skills for SQL Developer:
- Full proficiency in T-SQL as identified by the development manager deliverables
- Ability to develop new SSIS/SSRS packages to meet business needs
- Experience in creating Stored Procedures, SSIS ETL Packages, and Unit tests
- Ability to document developed code
- Provide status updates as requested by the Project Manager and Development Manager
- Ability to create moderate to advanced T-SQL Stored Procedures and Triggers
- Ability to write moderate and advanced SQL commands
- Ability to test and troubleshoot database procedures and ETL Packages
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Data analysis, task and workflow analysis skills
- Familiarity with the latest version of SQL Servers
- Hands-on experience with all aspects of the System Development Life Cycle
- Assisting with interviews when required
Experience Required:
- 5 years of experience in software development using SQL Server
- 5 years of experience in database development
- 5 years of experience in ETL development
- 5 years of experience with software development tools (e.g., Visual Studio, Chrome Developer Tools, SSRS)
- Experience using TFS/Azure DevOps as Source Control
- Experience with Agile Scrum project development methodology and ability to apply it in a practical manner
Education Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field, or equivalent work experience
Experience Preferred:
- Experience in State Government, Medicaid, CHIP, and DHR business area or healthcare industry
