Videographer is needed in South Africa.

African Legacy is a production company working directly with outfitters, lodges, and international hunting operations across Southern and East Africa. We produce high-end cinematic outdoor and hunting content for international marketing and digital platforms. As we expand for the upcoming season, we are looking to bring on one or two freelance cinematographers to support long-term, real-world field productions in remote environments.

This role involves filming multi-day to multi-week hunting and outdoor expeditions in bush camps, farms, and lodges. Productions are often back-to-back across the season and require extended time on location. Shoots take place in demanding outdoor conditions with early mornings, long days, and unpredictable schedules. Accommodation, meals, and on-location logistics are covered while deployed.

The cinematographer will be responsible for capturing cinematic B-roll, action sequences, environmental detail, and interviews where required. Work is done from a defined creative brief, shot structure, and production standards. Consistency, discipline, and professional conduct on location are essential, as the role involves close interaction with clients, outfitters, and guests.

Applicants must be comfortable operating independently in remote environments while managing their own camera, audio, batteries, and media. Daily data management and backups are required. All footage must be delivered organised and in line with African Legacy’s handover standards.

Candidates should have prior experience filming outdoor, documentary, wildlife, or adventure content and be confident working under real field conditions. A strong understanding of cinematic composition, movement, and natural light is required. Applicants must have their own reliable, professional-level camera gear capable of producing high-quality video. A mirrorless or cinema-capable camera, suitable lenses for wide to telephoto coverage, and a basic but dependable audio setup are minimum expectations.

Compensation is offered on a day-rate basis and is dependent on experience, gear, and availability. Typical filming rates range from approximately USD $80 to $140 per filming day, with consideration given to longer deployments and multi-day bookings. Travel days and extended trips are factored into overall project planning. Accommodation, meals, and on-location expenses are covered while deployed, and there is potential for consistent work across the season for the right candidate.

This is a professional freelance role and not a training or influencer position. Reliability and commitment are critical, as filming dates are locked in around seasonal schedules. All work is carried out under African Legacy’s production framework, and footage is captured for client use within that structure.

Applicants who are interested should provide a short introduction, examples of relevant work, a brief outline of their camera and audio gear, and their general availability for extended travel during the season.
