Job Description

Baltimore has an immediate opening for a News Photographer Part-Time. The ideal Photojournalist must be multi-skilled and independent, with the ability to do whatever it takes to get the job done, either on their own or with partners. They should be technically skilled and eager to continue learning as new technologies emerge. A successful candidate must have the ability to capture compelling visuals and audio quickly while demonstrating a “can-do” attitude.

Photographers are responsible for covering news stories and events by shooting incredible pictures, telling stories through creative editing, and delivering reliable and technically skilled live remotes. The position requires a great teammate to collaborate with on-air, production, and engineering colleagues in a fast-paced news environment.

Requirements

MUST BE ABLE TO:

• Safely and competently operate news gathering equipment including cameras, light kits, microphones, and tripods. Sony XD camera experience is effective, while P2 and JVC camera experience is acceptable.
• Edit content quickly and accurately either in-house or in the field, with Edius experience being a plus.
• Proficiently use GoPro cameras in daily storytelling.
• Possess FAA Part 107 Commercial Drone certification, or be willing to obtain it.
• Follow CBS and OSHA safety standards.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Excellent technical and creative skills, particularly in lighting interviews and live shots.
• Ability to work in fast-paced, high-stakes, tight-deadline environments.
• Self-starter with excellent people and organizational skills.
• Strong work ethic, positive disposition, leadership qualities, and ability to multi-task.
• Must be able to lift, handle, and work with at least 50 pounds of equipment.
• Willingness to work assigned schedules including early mornings, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
• Experience with Dejero, Live-U, and/or TVU live operations is required.
• ENG & SNG Live Truck experience preferred but not mandatory.
• Must have or be eligible to acquire, and maintain a valid Maryland driver’s license.

Additional Information

Hiring Salary Range: $27.00 per hour.

The hiring salary range applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay depends on various job-related factors, including geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
