Job Description

We are looking for a knowledgeable and supportive Game Design Tutor to provide one-on-one academic support for a student on the autism spectrum who is currently enrolled in college-level courses in “Video Game Development” and “Portfolio Development.” The tutor will help the student strengthen technical skills, complete assignments, and build confidence with industry-standard tools. This role is granted by Ritz Fiscal Monitoring Services (Ritz FMS), a fiscal agent that helps families and communities provide support for disabled individuals.

Responsibilities

  • Support the student in learning Unity and related software tools (Maya, Blender, Substance Painter, Adobe Suite, PDF Reader).
  • Reinforce class material in both Video Game Development and Design (Unity, coding/scripting, interface design, motion control, game narratives) and 3D Software and Game Engines (Modeling/rigging, 3D animation, texturing, lighting, simulation).
  • Guide the student through hands-on practice, assignments, and project presentations.
  • Encourage the student to apply principles of 3D art and game design throughout their assignments.
  • Provide clear explanations, step-by-step guidance, and constructive feedback tailored to the student’s learning style.
  • Communicate with the student’s parent/guardian about the student’s progress and behavior.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to support a neurodiverse learner.

Requirements

  • Proficiency with Unity, Autodesk Maya, and Adobe software.
  • Familiarity with Blender, PDF Reader.
  • Strong knowledge of “Video Game Design and Development” and the "3D animation pipeline."
  • Experience tutoring, teaching, or mentoring students one-on-one.
  • Prior experience working/volunteering in special education environments is a plus.
  • Patience, flexibility, and ability to teach students on the autism spectrum.

Additional Information

Schedule: The student is available for tutoring 2 times a week, 2-3 hours per session. Weekly scheduling times are flexible to both the student and tutor’s availability.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $49.00 per hour

Location: In-person, Fremont, CA 94539 (Required)

Expected hours: 4.0 – 5.0 per week
