Responsibilities:

• The client seeks an experienced Software Engineer with a background in the Rust Programming Language to guide the development of mission-critical systems.
• Responsibilities include managing the integration of legacy software to Rust, architectural guidance for memory-safe usage, and providing best practices.
• The selected candidate will work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, prioritize tasks, and serve as a key team member on a Scrum team.
• Support engineering team members in embedded software development using Rust.
• Lead the adoption of Rust techniques and design patterns throughout multiple product lines.
• Apply technical knowledge in software development stages, investigating root causes of issues, and developing software test plans and procedures.
• Utilize modelling tools and participate in peer reviews while identifying and repairing defects.
• Use various programming languages (primarily Rust, C/C++, and Python) for embedded real-time operating systems (VxWorks, Linux, Integrity).

Requirements

Required Skills / Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in developing Rust software for production systems.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in C/C++ development and object-oriented design.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in the development of embedded systems.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in developing embedded software systems.

Preferred Skills / Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Experience converting C/C++ code to Rust.
• Experience developing Rust software for embedded systems.
• Experience with software modelling and UML tools.
• Experience developing device drivers and Board Support Packages.
• Experience with Information Assurance and cryptography.
• Experience with NSA Type 1 certification or other SW certification, such as DO-178.
