Job Description
We are seeking a Back End Developer for our Engineering, Defense & Security team. The ideal candidate will possess DV clearance and be instrumental in guiding defense users through complex technology challenges while rapidly developing solutions to meet defense needs. You will collaborate with various teams to digitize defense and build robust, scalable digital platforms that support critical services effectively.
Your role includes guiding clients through their digital journey and delivering modern micro-services and digital solutions through automation and infrastructure-as-code. You will work closely with back and front-end developers, creatives, UX experts, and integration teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver features end to end, collaborating across teams to design new features and troubleshoot issues.
- Develop cloud-native and containerized applications using technologies like AWS Lambda, Spring Boot, NodeJS, Python FastAPI, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
- Build solutions within a DevSecOps and Agile ecosystem using tools such as Atlassian, Jenkins, GitLab, OWASP, and AWS components.
- Utilize Site Reliability Engineering methods to ensure reliability and resilience of solutions, increasing availability while reducing costs.
- Educate clients and end users on trade-offs during product decision-making, providing clear explanations for chosen approaches.
- Engage in continuous learning by participating in workshops and sharing resources within the community of architects and developers.
Required Skills & Experience
- Must hold UK security clearance to Developed Vetting (DV) level.
- Hands-on experience with one or more relevant technologies such as Java, TypeScript, JavaScript, and/or Python.
- Strong foundational knowledge in software development and a passion for coding.
- Demonstrated experience in agile methodologies, particularly Scrum and Kanban.
- A creative problem solver with a collaborative spirit, eager to learn from and work with a diverse group of individuals.
- Natural initiative-taker who encourages and brings out the best in colleagues while maintaining high standards and integrity.
Additional Information
Contract Start Date: March 2026
Contract Length: 12 months, with potential extension
Contract Classification: Inside IR25
Contract Location: London, Bristol or Manchester with hybrid working (2/3 days in the office)
