Designer de Espaço Infantil / Experiência – Centro de Jogos para Crianças (0–10 anos) – Algarve

We are seeking a freelance spatial designer / interior designer to develop the concept, layout, and functional design of a children’s game and activity center for ages 0–10, located in Portimão, Algarve (Portugal).
This is a real, physical space project (not a digital or purely 3D artistic project).
The goal is to create a premium, experiential children’s environment, clearly differentiated from local competitors, combining play, learning, safety, and everyday usability.
The space must be:
Visually strong and memorable
Designed for real-life daily use
Safe and reassuring for parents
Clearly divided by age groups (including a dedicated baby area 0–2)
Adapted to local production by Portuguese carpenters and suppliers
The designer will be responsible for:
Defining the overall creative and experiential concept
Designing thematic zones by age
Creating a clear and functional 2D layout
Providing simple, practical 3D views (SketchUp or similar – no hyper-realistic rendering required)
Developing mood boards, visual references, and material intentions
Preparing construction-oriented guidelines usable by local artisans (carpentry, finishes, play structures)
Deliverables should include:
2D layout (PDF + editable format if possible)
Simple 3D views (SketchUp, DWG, Rhino or equivalent)
Mood boards and visual references
A short written concept
Material and construction guidelines adapted to children’s spaces
We are looking for someone with:
Experience in children’s spaces, commercial interiors, hospitality, or experiential design
A strong understanding of safety, circulation, and parental supervision
A balance between creativity and practical construction knowledge
Clear communication and ability to work remotely
Portuguese-based designers or designers familiar with the Portuguese market are strongly preferred
