Job Description

Bodecker Foundation is seeking a reliable, skilled Freelance WordPress Developer to provide independent, contract-based support on an as-needed basis. This is not a staff position. The contractor will be called upon for periodic website upkeep, troubleshooting, and small-to-medium development projects as they arise. The website plays a key role in sharing opportunities with young artists, educators, and community partners, and the foundation values thoughtful design, accessibility, and functionality.

Scope of Work

• Ongoing maintenance of the WordPress site, including updates, security checks, and performance improvements.
• Customization of WordPress themes and plugins as needed.
• Troubleshooting bugs, broken links, and technical issues.
• Implementing responsive design best practices across devices.
• Optimizing site speed, caching, and database performance.
• Integrating third-party tools or services (forms, APIs, event tools, etc.) when required.
• Collaborating with the team to implement design or content updates on time.
• Following best practices for version control and deployment.
• Supporting basic SEO and accessibility best practices.

Contractor Qualifications

• Proven experience developing and maintaining WordPress websites.
• Strong working knowledge of PHP, HTML, CSS (SCSS), and JavaScript.
• Familiarity with databases such as MySQL.
• Comfortable working independently and managing tasks without close supervision.
• Clear communicator with strong time management skills.
• Experience working with nonprofits, arts organizations, or small teams is a plus.
