Job Description

Halogen Engineering Group is looking for a Software Engineer with 5+ years of experience, who will be responsible for developing, sustaining, and troubleshooting GHOSTGEM’s software suite of applications including DINO and future capabilities as mission needs arise. The software development activities include implementation, testing, and integration with other COTS, GOTS, and FOSS products, packages, and libraries.

The candidate will design, develop, test, deploy, document, maintain, and enhance complex and diverse software systems based on documented requirements. This may include analytics processing, novel algorithm development, real-time systems, and data repositories, among others. The role involves individual work or teamwork, reviewing software components for adherence to design requirements, resolving software problem reports, and utilizing appropriate software development methodologies.

Requirements

• Experience using the Linux CLI and tools
• Experience developing scripts using Bash
• Recent Python (3.x) software development experience
• Experience with Rust programming concepts or willingness to learn Rust
• Experience with NoSQL databases including MongoDB
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker
• Experience with container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes
• Experience creating Helm Charts to deploy containerized services on Kubernetes
• Familiar with messaging frameworks including RabbitMQ
• Familiar with CI/CD principles, methodologies, and tools including GitLab CI
• Familiar with IaC principles, methodologies, and tools such as Ansible
• Experience using Git Source Control System

Desired Skills

• Experience with SQL databases including PostgreSQL
• Experience with the Atlassian Tool Suite including Jira and Confluence

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in computer science or related discipline plus three (3) years of experience as a Software Engineer
• OR Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline plus five (5) years of experience
• OR Seven (7) years of experience as a Software Engineer in similar scope, type, and complexity

The projected compensation range for this position is $218K to $225K (annualized USD). Salary is influenced by multiple factors, including location and individual qualifications.
