Job Description

Halogen Engineering Group is looking for a Software Engineer who will be responsible for developing, sustaining, and troubleshooting GHOSTGEM’s software suite of applications including DINO and possibly future capabilities as mission needs arise. Software development activities include implementation, testing, and integration with other COTS, GOTS, and FOSS products, packages, and libraries.

This candidate will design, develop, test, deploy, document, maintain, and enhance complex and diverse software systems based upon documented requirements. These systems may include processing intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of large data sets, real-time systems, business management information systems, and systems incorporating data repositories, data transport services, and application and systems development and monitoring. Work may be carried out individually or as part of a team. Responsibilities also include reviewing and testing software components for adherence to design requirements, resolving software problem reports, and providing inputs to system design.

Requirements

• Experience using the Linux CLI and tools.
• Experience developing scripts using Bash.
• Recent Python (3.x) software development experience.
• Experience with Rust programming concepts or willingness to learn Rust.
• Experience with NoSQL databases including MongoDB.
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and containers.
• Experience with container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes.
• Experience creating Helm Charts to deploy containerized services on Kubernetes.
• Familiar with messaging frameworks including RabbitMQ.
• Familiar with CI/CD principles, methodologies, and tools including GitLab CI.
• Familiar with IaC principles, methodologies, and tools such as Ansible.
• Experience using the Git source control system.

Desired Skills

• Experience with SQL databases including PostgreSQL.
• Experience with the Atlassian Tool Suite including Jira and Confluence.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in computer science or related discipline from an accredited college or university, plus three (3) years of experience as a Software Engineer (SWE) in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• OR Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline from an accredited college or university, plus five (5) years of experience as a SWE in similar programs and contracts.
• OR Seven (7) years of experience as a SWE in similar programs and contracts.

Salary Range

The projected compensation range for this position is 218K to 225K (annualized USD), with salary determined by various factors, including location, individual qualifications, and contract-specific requirements.
