Job Description

We are seeking experienced WordPress Developers (High Junior–Mid or Mid–Senior level) to work on a range of website projects. You will play a key role in building, customising, and maintaining WordPress websites, ensuring high performance, scalability, and clean, maintainable code. This is a contract opportunity operating outside IR35. The position is fully remote, allowing you to work with a collaborative and forward-thinking team.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, customise, and maintain WordPress themes and plugins
• Build responsive, accessible, and high-performing websites
• Translate designs (Figma/Adobe XD/Sketch) into functional WordPress builds
• Implement custom functionality using PHP, JavaScript, and modern development practices
• Optimise websites for speed, SEO, and performance
• Work collaboratively with designers, project managers, and other developers
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
• Ensure code quality, documentation, and best practices are followed

Required Skills & Experience:

• Strong commercial experience with WordPress development
• Solid PHP experience (theme & plugin development)
• Experience with Advanced Custom Fields (ACF)
• Strong front-end skills (HTML5, CSS3/SCSS, JavaScript)
• Experience building custom themes (not just page builders)
• Understanding of REST APIs and third-party integrations
• Experience with Git/version control
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently

Desirable:

• Experience with WooCommerce
• Familiarity with modern build tools (Webpack, Vite, etc.)
• Headless WordPress experience
• Knowledge of technical SEO best practices
• Experience working in an agency environment
