Job Description

Are you passionate about turning raw data into actionable insights? Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment where innovation meets impact? We’re looking for a Data Engineer to join our client in the financial space on a 24-month hybrid contract in Pretoria.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Design, build, and optimize high-volume data pipelines, ETL/ELT workflows, and T-SQL procedures for scoring, analytics, and machine learning.
• Engineer feature stores and data warehouses, ensuring robust, reusable, and well-documented data structures.
• Perform data cleansing, transformation, and validation, guaranteeing accurate, reliable datasets for reporting and BI dashboards.
• Implement and maintain data governance, compliance, and QA frameworks, keeping data traceable, secure, and audit-ready.
• Collaborate with analysts, data scientists, and stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable, production-ready data solutions.
• Optimize production pipelines for performance, reliability, and monitoring, leveraging your expertise in indexing, tuning, and workflow orchestration.

Requirements

What We’re Looking For:

• Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Systems, Analytics, or Statistics, or Matric with 6–8 years of relevant experience.
• Hands-on experience with SQL Server (T-SQL, stored procedures, performance tuning) and ETL tools (SSIS, Azure Data Factory, Airflow).
• Proven experience in data warehouses, feature stores, and production data solutions (batch and near real-time).
• Knowledge of data governance, QA frameworks, and regulatory compliance.
• Familiarity with Power BI, cloud platforms (Azure preferred), and version control (Git).
• Strong collaboration and communication skills with an ability to translate complex requirements into practical solutions.
