Job Description

Generational Disco is seeking a friendly, energetic individual to join our team as a DJ Contractor. In this role, you’ll bring music, joy, and connection to senior citizens during the day and occasionally DJ events for college students at campus venues and local bars. This flexible, part-time position is ideal for active seniors, stay-at-home parents, or college students looking for extra income and meaningful work. Must have availability on afternoons Wednesday through Friday.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

Senior Entertainment:

  • Visit senior living communities to provide musical entertainment.
  • Curate playlists of nostalgic hits from the 1940s–1970s tailored to each audience.
  • Engage seniors through conversation, music sessions, and light activities.
  • Encourage participation in seated or low-key dance sessions.
  • Create a positive, safe, and uplifting environment for all participants.

College and Bar Events:

  • DJ fun, low-pressure events for college students, including campus parties, student events, and casual bar settings.
  • Curate music appropriate for college audiences, mixing in popular hits and upbeat tracks.
  • Maintain professionalism while adapting to a more relaxed, lively atmosphere.
  • Set up and break down equipment for events (lifting up to 50 lbs).

Promotion and Client Relations:

  • Build relationships with senior centers, assisted living facilities, colleges, and event organizers.
  • Proactively seek and promote new event opportunities.
  • Represent Generational Disco in a professional, enthusiastic manner.

Ideal Contractor Traits

  • 1. Passion for Music & Nostalgia: Deep appreciation for music from the 50s, 60s, 70s, and beyond; able to curate playlists for both senior citizens and college/bar audiences.
  • 2. Energetic & Personable: Comfortable engaging with seniors, college students, and casual bar patrons; creates a fun, welcoming environment for all event participants.
  • 3. Organized & Responsible: Reliable with scheduling, setup, breakdown, and event execution; capable of handling basic office duties with attention to detail.
  • 4. Tech-Savvy: Familiar with DJ equipment, basic troubleshooting, and music software; able to manage simple office systems such as email, spreadsheets, and calendars.
  • 5. Self-Motivated & Professional: Takes initiative with client outreach and promotional tasks; presents a polished, respectful image on behalf of Generational Disco, even in casual settings.
  • 6. Adaptable & Flexible: Willing to work at various locations: senior centers, campuses, private parties, and bars; able to adjust to different event styles and audience needs; able to lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds.
